Harleston Parker Medal
Genzyme was awarded the 2008 Harleston Parker Medal in recognition of its corporate headquarters, Genzyme Center, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The award, given by the Boston Society of Architects/AIA and the City of Boston, honors "the most beautiful" building or other structure built in the greater Boston area during the past decade.

Environmental Protection Agency Gold Achievement Award
Genzyme received a Gold Achievement Award for Community
Involvement from WasteWise, the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency's flagship partnership program. Genzyme sent 14,300 pounds
of reusable materials to hospitals, homes and institutions in need through
the Institution Recycling Network. In addition, Genzyme reused more than
72,000 tons of soil from the construction site of a new manufacturing
facility for structural fill on a local golf course, asphalt batching and landfill cover. |

leader among healthcare sector companies. Corporate
Sustainability is a business approach that creates
long-term shareholder value by embracing opportunities
and managing risks related to economic, environmental

100 Most Sustainable Corporations
In 2007, Genzyme was named one of the
"Global 100 Most Sustainable
Corporations in World" by Innovest
Strategic Value Advisors. The Global 100
is an annual list of companies that most
effectively manage environmental, social
and corporate governance risks and
opportunities. The firms on the list are
chosen from the more than 1,800 publicly
traded companies on the MSCI World
Index.

2006
Environmental Protection Agency
The EPA presented Genzyme's Cambridge
campus with a "Gold Achievement" award
for its extensive employee education
program. The training was required for
all employees and focused on raising
environmental awareness through the
intranet, presentations and quizzes. As
a result, the Cambridge campus recycled
more than 100 tons of material in 2005.

buildings in the world, and has received
the highest ranking, Platinum, from the
U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design
(LEED) rating system.

Genzyme received the John A.S. McGlennon
Environmental Award for Corporate
Leadership for Genzyme Center. The award
was presented in recognition of
Genzyme’s outstanding corporate
environmental leadership and
